In this video, Hylton shows you the two chimney breasts we removed and also the gallows brackets in the loft area.
During this project, the skip was on the drive. If it had been on the road we would have needed a permit, but not in this case.
In this recently bought property the owners intended to build wall units all the way around for kitchen, which is why we took out the chimney breast and then completely replastered walls and ceiling and repaired the floor.
In the upstairs bedroom, we removed the chimney and then first sanded and cemented the chimney area and bonded it out, and then steamed off the wallpaper at both ends and plaster the entire wall all the way across. We also put in new skirting boards, new joists on the floor and plastered the ceiling as well.
In the loft area, we fixed gallows brackets along with the steel beam and two concrete lintels. And we bolted on a piece of timber for the ceiling below. All the work was done correctly and safely and passed by the council.
