In this video, Hylton shows you a loft conversion and how a steel beam was fitted to support both floor and chimney. Because of the way the steel beam was fitted, the weight of the chimney breast is now resting on the spine wall, which runs through the center of the property all the way to the ground floor. The gap between the chimney breast and the supporting beam was packed with sand and cement and rebricked.
