Dangerous Chimney (no.2)

In this video, Hylton shows us another property where a a dangerous DIY job had to be repaired to properly support the chimney with a pair of gallows brackets and concrete lintels.

A survey on the property had revealed that the work done was unsafe. Two chimney breasts were removed on the upper and lower floor, but the remaining chimney was supported only with a few pieces of timber, which left it highly dangerous. That’s why the council did not approved this.

We came in to fit a couple of these robust gallows brackets into the wall and then concrete lintels on the brackets to make it safe and allow the council to issue a certificate for the work done.

Hylton Chimneys are specialists in safe chimney breast removal and structural wall removal but we also do all kinds of general building work required to complete the project. To contact us call 020 8346 2254 or complete the contact form below.
